Friedrich Becker broke with tradition as a young man and stopped selling grapes to the local co-operative and started bottling his own wines. Since 1989, he has been considered one of the top red wine producers in the Pfalz region of Germany.
Along with wines from Kessler, the best German Pinot Noir reaching the states that I have sampled. The winermakers are Stefan Dorst and Friedrich Becker jun. Annual production is 7,500 cases. Imported by Rudi West Selections, San Marcos, CA.

12.5% alc., $17, screw cap. Produced by Friedrich Becker in the Pfalz region of Germany. The grapes grow on limestone soil near the French-German border. Imported by Cellars Intl.
