Miner Family Vineyards is tucked into the eastern hills of the Oakville appellation, producing small lots of more than two dozen bottlings, including Pinot Noirs sourced from Carneros and the Santa Lucia Highlands (Garys' Vineyard and Rosella's Vineyard). Founded in 1998 by Dave and Emily Miner along with his parents Ed and Norma, the winery is most known for its Bordeaux-style blend The Oracle and the Miner Cabernet Sauvignon, but the Pinot Noirs are always top-notch.
The winery is environmentally conscience utilizing solar-power and a waste-water recycling program. The long-time winemaker was Gary Brookman who became general manager and director of winemaking in early 2014. Stacy Vogel was promoted to winemaker.
Some wines are sold on the website. It is best to visit the tasting room to sample, access the entire lineup and tour the 20,000 square feet of caves at 7850 Silverado Trail. 800-366-9463.
