Dr. Mauricio Collada, Jr., a native of Havana, Cuba is a practicing neurosurgeon in Salem, Oregon. He bought a 21 acre property in the Eola Hills in 1991. Planting began in 2003 with 8 acres of Pommard Pinot Noir. 2 acres of Dijon clone 115 and 777 and 2.5 acres of Pinot Gris were added later.
Initially grapes were sold to Erath, Evesham Wood and King Estate. By 2005, Collada had retained all his vineyard production and began the Cubanisimo label (Cubanisimo means "very Cuban."). Production in 2012 is about 1,800 cases of Pinot Noir and Rosé that is sold to a loyal following and on the website. The wines are produced at winemaker Rob Stuart's winery in McMinnville, but Collada dreams of having a winery on his own estate in the future.

the glass. Aromas of red fruits and briar lead to crisp red cherry flavor with oak-driven notes of spice and tar.
A very delicate wine with prominent tannins that dominate the demure fruit. A summer sipper that would
benefit from ice. Decent.
