Cacchetti Wine Company is a new face in the wine business, having been launched by industry veteran Roy Cecchetti and his wife Rachael in 2007. Cacchetti has over 20 years of experience developing wine brands, including the highly successful Pepperwood Grove. Based in Sonoma, Cacchetti reported sales of 268,000 in 2011 and 340,000 cases in 2012 with more than $15 million in revenues, and was named among the fastest growing companies in the country by Inc. Magazine. Redtree grew 11% with 152,000 cases sold. Cacchetti also has the Line 39, Austerity and Backhouse brands. All labels are aimed at the Millennials.
The former winemaker for Pepperwood Grove, Bob Broman, is the winemaker for Redtree label which offers several varietals for early consumption at affordable prices. The 2008 Redtree California Pinot Noir was an excellent value at $8. The wines are widely distributed.
Cacchetti Wine Company owns no winery, vineyards or tasting room.

Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. Very aromatic
initially with scents of cherry, cranberry, red licorice, spice and pipe smoke, fading some over time in the glass.
Middleweight flavors of black cherry and raspberry draped in firm tannins.

2010 Redtree California Pinot Noir
12.5% alc., $5.99, screw cap.

Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass. Nicely perfumed with
vivid aromas of cherries, red berries and complimentary oak. Lighter
weight flavors of black cherries with a touch of herbs and spice. Clean
and balanced with supple tannins, and although elegant in style, has
enough structure for interest. A great daily drinker and a perfect picnic
wine. Good.

2010 Redtree California Pinot Noir

Moderately light reddish-purple color in the
glass. Marked reduction upon opening with aromas and flavors of burnt matchstick. Left in a glass all day, the
reduction resolved, revealing aromas and flavors of black cherries with spice and oak char in the background.
Light in weight with silky tannins and easy approachability. A quaffable wine that is not up to the quality of
previous vintages. Decent.

Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass.
Confected aromas of spiced red cherries and raspberries with some hints of underbrush. A fruity wine that
reminds me of sangria with its slightly spicy citrusy and berry flavors. Medium-weighted and soft in the mouth
with mild tannins, this wine actually improved over time in the glass. A surprise at this price. Decent.

Very attractive aromas of strawberries, cherries, red licorice, forest floor, mushrooms and smoky oak. A
lighter-weighted offering that is demurely flavored with red cherries, raspberries and strawberries with a hint of
oak and sandalwood in the background. The tannins are supple and a spark of acidity marks the short finish. I
would recommend chilling this wine slightly before serving. Very good for the money and the best California
Pinot Noir I have ever tasted at this price point.
