Dierberg Winery produces three tiers of Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Valley Dierberg Vineyard. The Three Saints bottling is meant for early approachability and near-term enjoyment and is an excellent value-priced Pinot Noir. The three saints refers to Maria, Rita and Ynez, the names of the three major wine growing regions of Santa Barbara County.
The wines are available online and through retail distribution.

Dark ruby color in the glass. Scent of
black cherries, toasty oak and pencil lead. Middle weight flavors of blackberries,
black grapes and dark plums with underpinnings of toasted oak and tobacco.
Nicely composed and easy to drink. Decent.

2007 Three Saints Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay
14.1% alc., pH 3.09, 3,000 cases, $20. Whole cluster
pressed, native and inoculated fermentations. Initial fermentation is finished in barrel and partial MLF occurs in
barrel. Twice weekly lees stirring. Lightly fined and unfiltered.

Crisp, juicy and refreshing with aromas and
flavors of lemons, white peaches, pears and oak. A little sweetness on the finish is not my cup of tea, but this
style will have many fans. A solid choice for short-term daily drinking. Decent.

2007 Three Saints Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir

3.45, $24, screw cap. Dierberg Winery produces three tiers of Pinot
Noir from the Santa Maria Valley Dierberg Vineyard. The Three Saints
bottling is meant for early approachability and near-term enjoyment.
The name comes from the 3 Saints - Maria, Rita and Ynez -
representing three dynamic wine grape producing areas of Santa
Barbara County. Grapes are de-stemmed but not crushed. Aged in
12% new French oak for 17 months, lightly fined and bottled without filtration.
100% Pinot Noir.

Very dark violet color. Fabulous nose with considerable
interest. Aromas of plum sauce, black raspberry and blackberry, cardamon spice
and white pepper. Darkly fruited with a touch of oak, earth, beef, tar and Moroccan spice on the palate.
Discreetly rich with soft, fine tannins and a fruit-perfumed finish. Very Caliesque and thoroughly enjoyable now.
