Husband and wife, Stewart Boedecker and Athena Pappas, started Boedecker Cellars in 2003 and the pair are committed to performing all winery tasks together including winemaking, cellar management, sales and everything in between. Fruit is sourced from up to ten different vineyards. The wines are crafted in an urban winery in NW Portland.
Boedecker is a Pinot Noir specialist and releases two blends (Stewart, crafted in Stewart's preferred style which is red-fruited, full of acidity and soft tannins reflective of Pommard and Wädenswil clones, and Athena, crafted in Athena's style which is black-fruited, heartier with more tannins and spice rooted in Dijon clones) and three vineyard-designates (Carlton Hill, Cherry Grove and Stoller). The wines are made using sustainable winemaking practices, fermented in small lots, aged over 18 months in French oak, and closed with screw caps. Wines are also produced under the Pappas Wine Co. label.
Production is about 6,500 cases annually. The wines are available online. The winery's tasting room, located on the fringe of Portland's NW Industrial District, is open each weekend from 1:00 to 5:00

stirring.

Light cherry red color in the glass. Lovely aromas of red cherry, spice, dried herbs, earthy
flora and redwood log. Light in weight but flavorful, with tastes of red cherries and berries and
blueberry that are earth-kissed. Very elegant, with a deft touch of oak in the background and
gossamer tannins. The wine does not have a bevy of nuance, but is very like able. A perfect
everyday table wine crafted in a classic Oregon style.

$36, screwcap. Release March 2016. A blend from Carlton Hill, Cherry Grove, Finigan Hill, Hirschy,
Shea and Stoller vineyards. Winemaker Stewart Boedecker’s favorite barrel selections. 25% whole
cluster, native yeast fermentation, 18 months in French oak barrels with lees stirring (first 9 months
in a mix of new, once and twice-filled and neutral barrels, last 9 months in neutral barrels). Bottle
aged 4 to 6 months before release.

Light cherry red color in the glass. Inviting aromas of cherry,
rose petal and woodland lead to a mid weight styled wine with impressive mid palate presence and
finish. The core of cherry and ripe strawberry fruit flavors is accented with notes of interesting spices including
cinnamon. The tannins are suave, the acidity is bright, and the overall impression is one of complete harmony.
A masterful cuvée.

2007 Boedecker Cellars Carlton Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir
Spent 20 months in seasoned oak and racked into
neutral barrels and aged off the lees for another 9 months.

Very pretty nose offering scents of fresh dark red
raspberries and strawberries with a hint of tobacco. Very soft in the mouth, with delicious flavors of plum and
berries, lifted by bright acidity. The 2007 vintage was very underrated in Oregon and many wines, such as this
one, are great now. Very good.
