2014 Byron Bien Nacido Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay

14.3% alc., 255 cases, $45. Clones 95 and Wente 4. Aged 15 months in French oak barrels, 58% new. · Moderately light golden yellow color and clear in the glass. Toast dominates the nose that also offers scents of citrus, white peach and pear. Much better with time in the glass with more energetic fruit aromas. The flavors of lemon, white peach, pear, fig and butter echo the nose but with more citrus singing. Sleek and clean, with a razor finish. Score: 88. Reviewed December 13, 2016
