2016 Three Sticks “One Sky” Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay

14.6% alc., pH 3.53, TA 0.65, 364 cases, $50. Released February 6, 2018. Old Wente selection grown at 900 to 1,100 feet elevation. Soil is red iron volcanic and calcareous strata. Barrel fermented, 100% malolactic fermentation, aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 35% new. · Moderate golden yellow color in the glass. Soaring aromas of fresh lemon, caramel apple and sea breeze. Highly flavorful and engaging with rich tastes of lemon, pineapple and tropical fruits. Slightly viscous on the palate with only a hint of oak vanillin. Richness and ripeness, yes, but this beauty is balanced and impossible to resist. Score: 94. Reviewed April 15, 2018
