2016 J. Lohr Highlands Ranch Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

14.8% alc. pH 3.76, TA 0.56, 585 cases, $35. · Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Aromas of dark red and black wild berry mash, biscuit and char. A very ripe array of purple and black berry fruits are composed in a mid weight plus style that has noticeable sweetness. There is enough acidity and tannins to balance the hedonistic fruits and the alcohol is submerged, but toasty oak chimes in. Too much sweet fruitiness and not enough acidic verve for my taste. Score: 86. Reviewed June 19, 2019
