Released September 2011. From a 34-acre valley floor site planted to Dijon clones 114, 115, 667 and 777 with small amounts of Pommard and Martini. This wine is all clone 114. 100% whole berry. Inoculated yeast. Aged 17 months in 25% new Francois Frères French oak. · Aromas and flavors of black cap raspberries and black cherries with a subtle underlying earthy, herbal bent. Full-flavored and plush on the palate, with a juicy finish. A savory wine that aims to please. Still solid the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. Very good. 2009 Bruliam Hayley Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 14.2% alc., pH 3.73, $52. Unusual wine in that it is 100% clone 114. · This Pinot is the most feminine, the angel of the lineup. Very pretty perfume of cherries, strawberries and spice echoed in the flavors on the palate. Soft, forward and charming, with a spark of acidity to enliven the cherry driven finish. Very Good. 2008 August Truth Hayley’s Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 14.3% alc., $38. Crafted under the direction of Tom Harlan. · Moderately deep ruby color in the glass. Lovely aromas of black cherry pie and baking spices. Soft and velvety on the palate, expanding in the mouth with generous and hi-tone flavors of black cherries, finishing with a kiss of oak. 2007 Fulcrum Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 14.0% alc., 100 cases, $52. 50% Hein Family Vineyard and 50% Hayley Vineyard. The clones are 115 and 777. Aged in 41% new French oak barrels for 14 months and in bottle for 5 months. Unfined and unfiltered. · With urging the nose blossoms beautifully revealing hi-tone aromas of ripe berry jam and wildflowers with a dusting of oak. The balance is admirable and the fine-grain tannins provide a silky smooth texture that is very appealing. The flavor profile leans to raspberry and cherry with a sidecar of oak. Plenty to like.
