2014 E16 The West End Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.3% alc., pH 3.60, TA 0.61, 350 cases, $60. Sourced from Conzelman Vineyard in the “deep end” of the Anderson Valley. Pommard and Dijon 667 clones. Aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 40% new. · Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Black fruits prevail on the nose and palate in this sappy and structured offering that has a sweet and spicy tone to the fruit flavors. 2012 Vin Ver’Ray Conzelman Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.9% alc., 250 cases, $23. A Nicholson Jones Selection wine vinified by winemaker Julien Fayard. · Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Aromas of black cherry, mocha and new oak lead to a full-bodied charge of sappy black cherry and black raspberry fruits that are nicely tempered by a velvety tannic structure. The alcohol load is in balance as well. This wine really delivers a mouthful of flavor, but avoids a jammy course, retains a suavity and really satisfies. Score: 90. 2009 La Rochelle Conzelman Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.6% alc., 115 cases, $48. Released July 14, 2012. Clones 115 and 777. Aged 28 months in 60% new, 20% second use and 20% American oak. · Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. Savory nose with aromas of forest floor, stem and cherry with a touch of chemical peeking out. Slightly confected cherry flavor with an underlying savory herb riff. 2007 Harmonique Elegancé Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.5% alc., pH 3.55, TA 0.65, 247 cases, $36. A blend of fruit from Conzelman, Ferrington, Klindt and Wiley vineyards. Clones are primarily Pommard and Wädenswil. · Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass. Nicely perfumed with aromas of cherries, baking spice, sandalwood and a new Prada leather coat. 2007 Harmonique Delicacé Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.4% alc., pH 3.57, TA 0.61, 422 cases, $44. Wädenswil clone from Ferrington Vineyard, 777 from Klindt Vineyard and Pommard from Conzelman Vineyard. · Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass. Not as aromatic as the Elegancé, but offering a pleasant array of darker red cherry and berry aromas. A step up in intensity with a hearty core of black cherry fruit complimented by a savory, spicy, chocolaty edge. 2006 Harmonique Elegancé Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.1% alc., pH 3.55, TA 0.65, 675 cases, $36.50, released spring 2011. Winemaker Robert Klindt. Aged 19 months in 70% new French oak barrels, and aged in bottle until release. Four vineyard sources (Conzelman Vineyard Old Block, 21% Cerise Vineyard, 16.5% Wiley Vineyard and 12.5% Klindt Vineyard). 7 Pinot Noir clones. · Very light in weight, featuring red cherry and berry flavors with underpinnings of oak and savory herbs. 2005 Harmonique Elegancé Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.6% alc., 215 cases, $49.50. Inaugural vintage for this bottling. Harvested at 24.3º Brix. Sourced in small part from the Day Ranch Vineyard but primarily the Conzelman (formerly Rose Family) Vineyard. The Old Block (24 years old) of the Conzelman Vineyard consists of 4 acres of cordon pruned Martini clone. Yields were less than 2 tons per acre. · Darkest in color of the three 2005 Pinot Noirs. Hi-tone aromas of plums, raisins, sage and a hint of oak. Rich and ripe flavored dark fruits with notes of raisin, anise and Snicker’s bar, supple tannins, a silky and smooth texture, and a bright finish flush with tangerine peel.
