2012 Durant Vineyards Olivia Grace Dundee Hills Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 13.0% alc., pH 3.61, 165 cases, $60. This block was planted in 2006 to Pommard clone and is named after one of Paul Durant’s two daughters. The wine was vinified by winemaker Chad Stock of Minimus Wines. 100% Pommard clone. Harvest Brix 22.5º, yield 1.5 tons per acre. · Although also made from Pommard clone, this wine is distinctly different from Bishop. The nose is extravagantly scented with aromas of cherry, rose petal, and spice. The fruit load is luscious and intense, but the tannins are more reserved, and this wine displays plenty of vibrancy and up front enjoyment. Two days later, when tasted from a previously opened and re-corked bottle, this wine had taken on added interest with seductive aromas of cherries and spice and a delicious array of red fruit flavors that spoke Pinot in character. Score: 92. Reviewed November 19, 2014 WINERY » ARTICLE »

Lovely purple stone and berry mid weight sappy fruits with a lush mid palate attack and a vivid and rich fruit-laden finish. A big wine for Oregon but the fruit is buffered by firm ripe tannins and is not daunting. Similar the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. Give this wine some time for the aromas to arrive and the rich fruit to temper. Score: 91. Reviewed November 19, 2014 WINERY » ARTICLE »

Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Extroverted nose offering aromas of wild berries and exotic spices. Forceful and assertive on the palate, yet elegant, with a perfectly ripened core of berry fruit still mildly compressed by tannins. Similar to the Special Reserve, but more aloof at this stage. An ethereal wine that oozes pinotosity. Score: 95. Reviewed June 26, 2014 WINERY » ARTICLE »
2011 White Rose Estate Durant Vineyard Dundee Hills Oregon Pinot Noir 13.0% alc., 167 cases, $60. Vineyard was planted in 1994 to Dijon clone 114 in Jory soil. Harvested November 2, 2011. 90% whole cluster, aged 16 months in 14% new French oak barrels. · Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass. Reserved aromas of dark red cherries and berries, wooded forest and spice. This wine has the most concentration and the darkest fruit of the 2011 wines tasted. The whole cluster influence is subtle and alluring. The dry tannins are evident, but are pure silk in texture producing a very round and smooth palate. A generous, long finish completes the picture. Total skin contact 19-31 days. All wine basket pressed. Aged 15 months in 14% French oak. · Light red rose color in the glass. Effusive aromas of dark red cherries, spice, sawdust and stem. A step up in body and intensity featuring bright red cherry essence with gregarious spice including clove, carrying over to the long and refreshing finish fueled by bright acidity. Perhaps a touch under ripe, but I find it irresistible: it’s what the vintage gave. Very good. Reviewed November 24, 2012 WINERY » ARTICLE »

2010 Matello Souris Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 13.5% alc., 165 cases, $42. A barrel selection from Whistling Ridge Vineyard, Durant Vineyard and Bishop Creek Vineyard. Non-irrigated vines. · Light reddishpurple color in the glass. Delicate aromas of cherries and strawberries unfold nicely over time in the glass. Rather austere and “Burgundian” in style if you will, featuring red fruits with hints of oak, redwood and herbs in the background. Finishes with mellow red cherry flavor. Elegant, like see-thru red lingerie. Some may find the wine too tight, light and tart but they may miss the point of this acid-charged wine. Very good. Reviewed November 24, 2012 WINERY » ARTICLE »
