Clones 667, “828,” 115. Harvest Brix 24.0º. Aged 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% new. · Light ruby red color in the glass. The nose engages with fragrant notes of dark red Bing cherry and fertile earth. Light in weight, but flavorful, offering the essence of red cherry fruit framed by nutty oak. 2009 Semper Gold Ridge Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.4% alc., $85. This vineyard is named for a vein of gold loam soil running from the western edge of the Russian River towards the town of Annapolis on the Sonoma Coast. · Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Demure aromas of black cherries, dark chocolate, graham and wood shavings. Amazingly intense and sappy fruit presence which coats the mouth and fuels a big, long finish. Flavors of black plum, black cherry and blueberry with an earthy, mineral undertone. Tasted two days later from a previous opened and re-corked bottle, the nose had checked out and the wine was flat. 2003 Dehlinger Goldridge Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.4% alc., 1,300 cases, $36. Aged in barrel 16 months. · Just can’t get past the nose on this wine. While there are some pleasant blueberry and cranberry fruit aromas, there is also a strong smell of tequila. Soft in the mouth with supple tannins and restrained flavors of raisined berries. 1998 Dehlinger Goldridge Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.2% alc.,1,100 cases, $32. · Slight orange tinted rim. Surprisingly fresh initially with appealing aged Pinot Noir flavors of spiced cherries, brown spice and brown sugar. One taster noted minimal Brett on the nose.
