Red cherry and berry aromas and flavors are featured in this lighter weighted wine that is simple and forward. Oak vanillin shows up as a backdrop. Easy going tannins emerge with some astringency on the finish. Score: 87. Reviewed July 21, 2018 WINERY » ARTICLE »
2014 Sweetzer Cellars Presqu’ile Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 14.4% alc., pH 3.33, TA 0.75, 137 cases, $40. A barrel selection. Clones 4, 76, 95 and 96. Fermented in 60% stainless and 40% neutral oak. Aged 18 months in French oak barrels, 25% new. · Moderately light golden yellow color in the glass. Scents of butter, yellow nectarine, wax and toasty oak entice. More concentration and length in the mouth than the Santa Maria Valley bottling with valued flavors of lemon, honey and toasty oak. The acidity is also better integrated in this wine. Score: 90. Reviewed July 14, 2018 WINERY » ARTICLE »
2014 Presqu’ile Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 12.9% alc., $42. 90% Presqu’ile Vineyard, 10% Bien Nacido Vineyard. Clones 777, 667, 115, Pommard and Mt Eden. The nose opens grudgingly in the glass offering aromas of smoky oak, hazelnuts, pungent herbs with no fruit. Better in the mouth, with mid weight flavors of black cherry and black raspberry that have good phenolic ripeness and are backed by a healthy tannic backbone. Very modest on the finish, and a bit too oak-infused and herbaceous for my taste. Score: 87. Reviewed August 17, 2016 WINERY » ARTICLE »
2014 Sweetzer Cellars Presqu’ile Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 13.5% alc., 147 cases, pH 3.64, TA 0.55, $45. Nicely perfumed with aromas of fresh black cherry and spice. Flavors of black cherry and black raspberry are framed by compatible tannins in a mid weight style. Rather simple, with too much oak input, still evident when the wine was re-tasted several hours later from a previously opened bottle. Score: 89. Reviewed July 21, 2018 WINERY » ARTICLE »
2013 Cotiere Presqu’ile Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 13.4% alc.. · Light cherry red color in the glass. Fresh cherry aromas and flavors abound in this wine with a good mid palate attack, soft tannins, and a juicy, persistent finish. A savory herbal thread from whole cluster inclusion brings up the background. Score: 90-91. Reviewed April 4, 2015 WINERY » ARTICLE »

Unfined and unfiltered. A barrel selection intended to represent the essence of the vineyard. · Moderately light golden color and clear in the glass. The nose leads with scents of lemon, pear skin and seashore. Flavors of citrus and peach are balanced with a steely minerality which I liked. Very enjoyable, with well integrated oak, saliva inducing acidity and some finishing citrus-driven ebullience. Score: 92. Reviewed January 17, 2016 WINERY » ARTICLE »
