14.1% alc., 365 cases, $38. The Truchard Vineyard is a reliable source for Pinot Noir. Located close to Saintsbury's Brown Ranch Vineyard and Hyde Vineyard in Los Carneros. The grapes for this wine come from two blocks: an established planting of over 22-year-old vines and a 3-year-old block. Clones are Swan, Pommard, and Dijon 115 and 777. Aged 16 months in new and 1-year-old French oak barrels. · Everything in this wine is gentle and subtle. Plenty of dark cherries, herbs, chocolate and a kiss of oak, finishing cleanly with racy acidity. A delicious wine drinking perfectly now. Reviewed May 1, 2006
