2013 Paul Lato “Suerte” Solomon Hills Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir

14.2% alc., $75. Unfiltered. · Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Aromas of cherry, strawberry, earth, mushroom and peat. Mid weight black cherry and blackberry flavors with a hint of spice, black tea, anise and oak. Elegant with supple tannins and good length on the finish. Shows the most oak overlay of any of the 2013 Pinot Noirs tasted. A solid, even exceptional wine, but not my favorite Solomon Hills bottling. Score: 89. Reviewed May 14, 2015
