2018 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

13.4% alc., 350 cases, $49. Own rooted vines planted in 1972. Whole cluster pressed, indigenous primary fermentation, natural malolactic fermentation, minimally effective S02, and aged in French oak barrels, 20% new. · Light golden yellow in the glass. Reserved, but pleasing aromas of citrus, peach pit, wildflower honey and wet stone. Noticeable boldness yet discrete, with flavors of white nectarine and lemon meringue. 2018 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Graveyard Block Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

13.1% alc., 100 cases, $54. Grapes are from a block located in the lower portion of the vineyard. Head trained and dry farmed vines on their own roots.100% whole cluster, indigenous yeast primary fermentation, natural malolactic fermentation, minimal effective SO2. Aged in French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered. · Lovely aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, cola and ground savoury spice. Exuberant and intense fruit presence with layered flavors of black cherry, black raspberry and purple berry. There is a slight stem or green note in the background.The tannins are evident but not overly aggressive and the acidity is well integrated. 2017 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Graveyard Block Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

12.9% alc., 100 cases, $Not released. Sourced from a single block within the Bohan Vineyard. Soils here are the rockiest on the ranch and create a distinct wine. 100% whole cluster, native fermentation, aged 11 months without racking on the lees in 100% neutral French oak barrels. · Light ruby red color in the glass. Aromas of spiced cherry, turned earth and tobacco ash. Light to mid weight in an elegant style, featuring well spiced red fruits with the slightest confected tone. The rocky soil seems to give this wine a distinctive character that defies my best efforts at description. There are noticeable, healthy tannins that provide textural interest. But the most striking feature is the impossibly long finish that is described as “fantastic” in my notes. Considerably more enjoyable when tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle showing demonstrative aromas of spiced cherry, potpourri and sweet pipe smoke. Score: 94. 2017 Kutch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

12.5% alc., 750 cases, $39. A blend of grapes from McDougall Ranch, Bohan, Falstaff and Le Jons vineyards. Sandstone, Goldridge, Adobe clay and sandy loam soils. 100% whole cluster, native yeast fermentation, fruit crushed and punched down by foot, aged on the lees for 11 months in 100% neutral French oak barrels. · Moderate garnet color in the glass. Complex nose displaying aromas of cherry, exotic spices, pine sap, tobacco smoke and fertile earth. Excellent vim and vigor in a mid weight style with a gentle mouthfeel, offering flavors of dark red cherry and berry and a subtle savory thread. Sporting the most whole cluster character in the 2017 lineup, this wine is nicely balanced with submerged tannins. 2016 Kutch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

12.1% alc., $39. Release January 9, 2018. · Moderate garnet color in the glass. Soaring aromas of black raspberry, spice, burnt tobacco and tutti-fruiti. Sleek and eager to please in a forward drinking mid weight style, featuring flavors of black cherry and black raspberry with a tasty spice riff and a carbonic maceration note. Well-structured, with a compliment of oak, taking on more pride with time in the glass. Perfectly fine when tasted up to four days from a previously opened and re-corked bottle indicating good age ability. Drink this wine now and over an extended time of cellaring. Score: 92. 2016 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

11.3% alc., $49. Release January 9, 2018. · Moderately light ruby red color in the glass. A pheromonic nose offering a deep well of fresh cherry, strawberry, and raspberry fruits along with exotic spices including mulling spice. A wine of ethereal refinement, with searching and perfumes flavors of red cherry and berry, spice, tobacco and bacon fat. Very silky mouthfeel with a buried but supportive structure and a refreshing finish that drives another sip. Only Pinot Noir could offer a wine of such delicacy and sensuality while knocking your socks off with flavor. This is a wine to share with your partner for it could easily lead to romance. Score: 97. 2016 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

11.3% alc., $54. Sourced from grapes planted in 1974. Vines are dry farmed and own rooted. 100% whole cluster, native yeast and native malolactic fermentation. Aged 12 months in 100% neutral French oak barrels without racking. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. · Moderately light garnet color in the glass. The whole cluster-inspired nose features aromas of red cherry fruit, red rose petal, sap and carbonic maceration. Light to mid-weight in style and red fruited with a noticeable wilted rose floral tone. Appealing elegance, suede tannins and shot through with bright acidity, finishing long with lip-smacking tart cherry goodness. When tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle, the nose was even more enticing, becoming more savory and less overtly fruity, and the dark red fruits and tannins had reached gracious integration. 2014 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

13.5% alc., 150 cases, $49. Bohan Ranch was the first modern vineyard planted on the far Sonoma Coast in 1972. The grapes for this wine were sourced from a block planted in 1072 on its own rootstock which is rare in California today. The vines are planted in Yorkville Laughlin loam with a California sprawl trellis and are dry farmed. 100% whole cluster. Native yeast primary fermentation and native malolactic fermentation, fruit crushed and punched down by foot, aged on lees for 11 months in 100% neutral French oak barrels without racking. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. This wine has a distinctive feral and rustic character that is clearly a reflection of the terroir and grape selections. Slightly shy aromatically but pleasant, with aromas of raspberry, sous bois, woodland and dark rose petal. The mid weight flavors of black raspberry and blackberry are framed by mildly astringent tannins. The fruit has remarkable intensity which lifts the mid palate and finish. When tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle, the wine was still uniquely rustic in character and seemed worthy of cellaring for to achieve further expression and to meld the tannins. 2013 Kutch Bohan Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

12.3% alc., 150 cases, $49. Vines planted in 1972 (clone unknown). Own-rooted, dry-farmed, California sprawl trellising, 10' x 8' spacing, cordon pruned. Aged in 30% new and 70% neutral French oak barrels. · Moderate black cherry color in the glass. The nose is fresh and very pleasant with aromas of dark cherry pie glaze, spice, wildflowers, and conifer. The rich core of tasty black cherry, black raspberry and pomegranate fruits are embellished with a complimentary touch of oak.
