2015 Roessler Wine Cellars Hein Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

12.9% alc., $54. Roger Roessler Signature Series. · Moderately light garnet color in the glass. The nose is reductive, with the aroma of flint accompanying scents of herbs, forest floor, toast and tobacco. Light to mid weight in style and cherry driven with a bit of spice, game and vegetal accents. Highly individualistic, with mellow tannins and some finishing cherry fruit intensity. 2014 Roessler Wine Cellars Hein Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.1% alc., pH 3.80, TA 0.49, 94 cases, $54. Vineyard is in the far northwestern end of Anderson Valley in proximity to cool Pacific breezes. Native yeast fermentation, aged 11 months on lees in French oak barrels, 25% new. · Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. A remarkably nuanced wine with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, grilled beef, spice, sous-bois and mulch leading to enticing mid weight plus flavors of black raspberry, blackberry, spice and mushroom. 2011 WALT Blue Jay Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

15.2% alc., 1,875 cases, $40. Sourced from Hein, Savoy, Anderson Creek and other vineyards. Native yeast fermentation, unfined and unfiltered. · Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Lavishly perfumed with aromas of black raspberry jam, pepper, spice and oak with a very slight funky barnyard note. On the palate the wine is juicy and forward with flavors of dark red and black raspberries, black cherries, baking spices and seasoned oak. Clones 777, 115 and Pommard. 30% whole clusters. · Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. Inviting aromas of boysenberries and plum. 14.0% alc., 25 cases, $44. Released in the fall 2009. Co-ferment of 115 and Pommard clones. 100% de-stemmed. Aged 11 months in 33% new French oak barrels. · Moderately deep reddish-purple color in the glass. Black cherry and herbal highlights on the nose carry over onto the smooth palate with the slightest ash lurking in the background. Healthy tannins need time to integrate. Good. 14.1% alc., 196 cases, $45. Released scheduled for September 2009. This vineyard was planted between 1997 and 1999. Pommard and three Dijon clones. · Moderately deep ruby color. The nose offers intense black fruit aromas. Richly flavored dark Pinot fruits complemented by notes of tobacco and dark chocolate. Soft in the mouth and plush in texture. 2007 Fulcrum Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.0% alc., 100 cases, $52. 50% Hein Family Vineyard and 50% Hayley Vineyard. The clones are 115 and 777. Aged in 41% new French oak barrels for 14 months and in bottle for 5 months. Unfined and unfiltered. · With urging the nose blossoms beautifully revealing hi-tone aromas of ripe berry jam and wildflowers with a dusting of oak. The balance is admirable and the fine-grain tannins provide a silky smooth texture that is very appealing. The flavor profile leans to raspberry and cherry with a sidecar of oak. Plenty to like. 14.3% alc., $48. Sourced from the Hein Family Vineyard. · Moderately light in color. The nose is thick with herbs, leaf, underbrush, oak smoke and camphor. Light in weight with good acidity, the flavor profile leans to cherries and cranberries with a slight chemical note. Smooth in the mouth. No special message but a decent drink. 2006 Fulcrum Wines Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.2% alc., 100 cases, $52. From three vineyards, Akins, Hein Family, and Wentzel. Clones are Pommard, 115, 667 and 777. Aged 10 months in 41% new French oak (Francois Frere and Seguin Moreau). · The wine leads off with aromas of cherries, raspberries, herbs and newly mowed hay. Darker fruits dominate the flavor profile, with hints of raisin, spice and wood. Plenty of acid, even a little tart on the finish, which also displays a fruity raspberry flavor.
