This new winery debuted in 2014 at the Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival. Located in Philo adjacent Balo Vineyards and across the street from Goldeneye, Domaine Anderson was founded by the Rouzaud family of Louis Roederer and their American team. The winery is dedicated to still Pinot Noir and Chardonnay production.
The winery is surrounded by the 17-acre Dach Vineyard planted to Pinot Noir. Production is complimented by grapes from 35 acres of vineyards located throughout Anderson Valley. The head winemaker is Jerry Murray and the consulting winemaker is Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Dujac. Murray has extensive experience with Pinot Noir, having made wine for eight wineries spanning three continents.
The inaugural releases in 2012 include two Estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that are blends from several vineyards and two single vineyard Pinot Noir (Dach Vineyard) and Chardonnay (Walraven Vineyard) wines that are sourced from specific blocks. Eventual production will be about 1,800 cases of Chardonnay and 3,000 cases of Pinot Noir.
The winery will not be open to the public.

sites including Dach (64%), Walraven (29%) and Pinoli (7%). Aged 15 months in French oak barrels, 30% new.

Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. There is a subtle green tone in this wine that reflects under-ripeness.
Aromas of strawberry, cherry, spice and red rose petal. Red-fruit driven on the palate in a mid-weight style with
gracious tannins and a red-cherry themed finish. Rather pedestrian and lacking in mid-palate fortitude. Less
enjoyable with more oak in the forefront when tasted the following day from a previously opened bottle.

pressed. Aged 16 months in French oak barrels, 30% new.

of black cherry, black raspberry and warm spices. Admirable balance in a mid weight, harmonious style, with a
core of black cherry and blueberry fruit flavors infused with svelte tannins.

2013 Domaine Anderson Dach Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
14.2% alc., pH 3.56, TA 0.59, $65.
Estate bottled. Biodynamically farmed vineyard located a half mile east of the town of Philo at an altitude of 300
feet. Vineyard is planted to a mix of heritage clones. A barrel selection of best lots.

Moderate reddish purple
color in the glass. The nose is oak driven, offering aromas of espresso, anise and toast as well as pine sap and
underbrush. A savory offering in a light to mid weight style, with fruit flavors of black cherry and black raspberry
augmented by a pungent pine needle note. Unusual flavor profile and challenging to describe, but reminds of a
Pinot Noir grown in a tree forest. I like this wine for its non-fruit qualities. Still a bit tight with unyielding tannins
and will benefit from more bottle age.

2013 Domaine Anderson Pinoli Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
13.8% alc., pH 3.66, TA 0.55, $65. Estate bottled. First offering from this
organically farmed vineyard located northwest of Philo in the “deep
end” of the Anderson Valley. Clones 667 and 777. A barrel selection from
several fermentation lots.

Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. A
very elegant offering that presents all the best features of Pinot Noir.
Earth-dusted black cherry, herb bunch and toasty oak lead off. Suave
and charming in the mouth, with a ravishing core of black cherry fruit
seasoned with a delicate touch of oak and savory dried herbs. Nicely
balanced, finishing with composure and freshness.

2012 Domaine Anderson Dach Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
13.7% alc., $N/A. Inaugural vintage. This 17-acre vineyard is a mile east of
the town of Philo at an altitude of 300 feet and surrounds the winery devoted
to still Pinot Noir. Aged in about 25% to 33% new French oak for 16 months.

Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. An immature nose featuring a
heavy oak presence. Still very young, with mid weight flavors of juicy black
cherries, accents of herbs and spice, and generous, firm tannins. Somewhat
silky on the palate with a significant oak overlay. Needs to be decanted or
time to integrate the oak and tannins.
Score: 91.
