Born to Italian immigrants, Charlie Barra bought the home ranch Redwood Valley Vineyards in Mendocino County in 1955 and has farmed 200 acres of vineyards since. He was an innovator (first to use water for over-head frost protection in Mendocino) and an activist (fought for state regulations that changed the way farmers are paid for grapes).
BARRA of Mendocino brand was started in 1997 (see Barra of Mendocino) and Girasole (“jee-ra-sol-ay”) in 2001. All wines are estate grown and from CCOF organic-certified grapes.

owned and operated vineyards with some dating to the 1950s.
Certified organic by CCOF and vegan friendly.

Moderately
light reddish purple color in the glass. Nicely perfumed with
aromas of cherry reduction sauce, red berries, spice and
organic flora. Pleasing charge of deep cherry cola and root
beer flavor on the attack, carrying through a modestly generous finish.
Good harmony is achieved through a balanced tannic backbone and
well-integrated, juicy acidity.

Brix 24.7º. Estate grown, certified organic grapes, vegan.

Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass.
Aromas of cherry combined with oak-driven notes of ash and vanilla. Delicately fruited, featuring a black cherry
core with smoky oak in the background. Modest mid palate attack with a cherry-driven finish dominated by
charred oak.
Score: 85.
