2013 Ken Brown Clos Pepe Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 14.7% alc., pH 3.69, TA 0.53, 208 cases, $65. Pommard clone planted in low vigor, sandy loam rich in calcareous shale. 100% de-stemmed, cold soak, aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 32% new. · Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Lovely perfume of fresh cherries, red berries, spice and shaved oak. Deft balance between fruit richness, tannins and acidity, displaying impressive fruit purity through flavors of cherry, cranberry, raspberry and spice. A gorgeous wine that is both elegant and ephemeral. Score: 93. Reviewed August 17, 2016
