2014 Paul Lato “Suerte” Solomon Hills Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir

14.2% alc., $80. Unfiltered. · Moderate reddish purple hue in the glass. The nose is quite woody, with added aromas of black cherry, oak spice and charcoal. The seductive black cherry and black raspberry core is complimented by spice, vanilla and smoky oak notes. Elegant in style, with refined tannins, but lacks finishing length. Very solid, but not up to previous Solomon Hills bottlings that were extraordinary. Could have been an off bottle. Score: 89. Reviewed August 17, 2016
