Furthermore Wines

Two lifelong friends and partners produce single vineyard Pinot Noirs from several cool-climate growing regions in California. An estate vineyard, Nevina's, located in the Sonoma Coast town of Occidental, was added in 2011. The winery began in 2006 at Crushpad, with production shifting to an urban winery in San Francisco for recent vintages.

In January 2016, Furthermore bought Russian River Valley's Graton Ridge Cellars including the label, tasting room, winery and estate vineyard. The tasting room will offer Furthermore's single vineyard-designate Pinot Noirs and Graton Ridge Cellars Russian River Valley Pinot Noirs.

Also in January 2016, Furthermore added Erica Stancliff as head winemaker. She is the winemaker for her own Trombetta Family Wines label and was formerly part of the winemaking team at Paul Hobbs CrossBarn, Rudd and Vina Cobos.

The wines are available online and through a few select restaurants and wine shops in the San Francisco Bay area. The tasting room at Graton Ridge in Sebastopol will be open daily.

2017 Furthermore Gap’s Crown Vineyard Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir

14.7% alc., 240 cases. · Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Gloriously aromatic, with scents of black stone fruits, dark berries, rose petal and warm brioche. A deluge of black cherry and black raspberry fruits greet the palate but there is enough supportive acidity (even a citric note) to lift the fruit to brightness. Of special note is the highly persistent, fruitfilled finish. Score: 93. Reviewed August 1, 2021 ARTICLE »

14.2% alc., 150 cases, $45. · Light golden yellow color in the glass. The nose merges aromas of grilled lemon and peach with toasty oak. Soft and polished, with pleasure-seeking flavors of lemon, pineapple, yellow apple and nectarine with a hint of saltiness. Toasty oak overshadows the fruit aromas of ripest strawberry and black cherry. A husky, well-ripened core of blackberry and black raspberry fruit that displays proper acidity and noble tannins to balance the fruit load. Charming, with some length to the finish. My only nit is that the wine displays more oak overlay than I prefer. Unchanged when tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle, still showing a noticeable oak imprint. Mid-weight plus in concentration, offering super-ripe, luscious and sweet array of black stone and black berry fruits. There are hints of brown sugar and cocoa as well. 13.8% alc., 83 cases, $50. Furthermore’s first estate vineyard. Located in Occidental six miles from the coast planted in 2002 to clone 777 by Scott Zeller. The vineyard was formerly known as Willow Creek and was bottled as a vineyard designate by Rivers-Marie. · My first experience with this vineyard and WOW! Moderately dark reddish purple hue in the glass. Intoxicating aromas of freshly picked and crushed wild berries, spice, and ocean breeze. A little bit untamed, rugged and spirited, with delicious flavors of boysenberry, blackberry, molasses and dark chocolate and a firm tannic spine. The fruit has character and speaks of the earth and a sense of place. The experience is like throwing down fresh, juice berries while sitting on a ridge top overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the Sonoma Coast. This is one sexy wine that really stands out among the excellent Furthermore Pinot Noirs in 2011. Score: 94. Reviewed November 19, 2014 ARTICLE »
